I was born in Budapest, I am a local here though I have travelled around the world quite a bit and even had the opportunity to live in different countries like Spain, Guatemala, Russia. At university I studied social work and jewish history. With that said - Hungary is my home, and as a professional guide, I enjoy a great deal showing my country to anyone who is interested in exploring it. I love music, history, arts and travelling. I like to discover yet unknown details, hidden places (Did you know that Budapest has beautiful staircases in several residential houses? If you see an open gate just enter, as I do it as well quite often ! ).My special hobbies include photographing interesting pieces of street art which I consider a part of urban culture.

My name is Gergely in Hungarian but it's much easier if you just call me Greg! :) I've born in the downtown of Buda in an intellectual family and my family background and upbringing undoubtedly led to my present profession: tour guiding. I took the exam in 2006 and since then I'm active in the tourism biz either as a conventional tour guide in the city or an adventurous outdoor guide (hiking, canoeing, rafting, climbing etc). Beside my deep love and passion towards my home town my "weakness" is definitely honesty so parallel all the useful knowledge I wish to share with you the true life of my nation as well, therefore I happily answer any kind of questions! Cities are changing all the time, like a living organism, so I have a lifetime project to admire and study its beauty and to show curious visitors its secrets and magic. Just like Budapest, the Hungarian countryside is full of wonders, breathtaking views over vineyards by the lake Balaton or Tokaj, mystic forests of the Danube bend, hidden, reed roof villages, folkloric traditions, aristocratic palaces and mansions had been renovated in the recent past. And of course, for the real local experience, food, coffee and wine are the key to emerge in the local culture. We can talk about food with real passion and have serious culinary debats. I firmly believe that our environment shapes us and being raised in Budapest, I was surrounded as a child by all these legends, traditions, urban myths and beautiful architecture- at the time, when the socialist dictatorship was about to collapse, the city was in a pretty bad shape but I was raised to see the beauty in its shabby chic. By now the city has been renewed and it became the real, shiny pearl of the Danube. Budapest offers one of the most breathtaking views in the whole world and our culture and language is so unique, I am pleased to tell you all the fun facts and show you the hidden gems along with the historical major sights and the best views!
